How to play Carrom

Make Carrom your next activity in the game library. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

Focus on one rule

Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Take a moment to understand the current position.

Step by step

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Controls

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A useful example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
